Overview

Asia Rail Engineering was formed in late 2008 to provide solutions in the areas of Survey, Design, Construction, Maintenance, Project and Site Management, Labour and Training to the rail industry. Initially based in Singapore, the company has already expanded to provide solutions to the UK market. With directors drawn from the rail and construction industries in both Asia and Europe, Asia Rail Engineering is positioned to tackle small to medium scale projects, both as a stand alone solution provider and in conjunction with our client’s existing staff framework.

History

In 2008 the directors all agreed that there was an opportunity to create a new supplier to the rail industry in Singapore and the surrounding territories to provide bespoke solutions to the problems faced by the rail industry. By the end of the year, Asia Rail Engineering Pte Ltd was formed with the intention of providing solutions on the areas of track survey, design, construction and maintenance. Intrinsic to Asia Rail Engineering’s founding principles was the belief that a cohesive structure was required to deliver these solutions. To that end, it was agreed that Asia Rail Engineering could not be just another “body shop” but that we would provide dedicated, highly experienced management services based on our client’s requirements. Our directors are all established specialists in the Rail and Construction industries, with experience on such high profile projects as the Woodlands, Changi and Boon Lay extensions to the SMRT network in Singapore, the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, West Coast Route Modernisation, London Underground/Metronet New Train Fleet Asset Renewal and the Docklands Light Rail Lewisham extension in the UK to name but a few.

Growth

From this early aspiration, Asia Rail Engineering now has a UK arm dealing with European projects whilst the Singapore office deals with the upcoming projects in South East Asia. The company is in advanced negotiations with several key players in South East Asia and has supplied a number of design staff to several principal contractors involved with extension, modification and new built of Singapore SMRT. In Europe, our track design staffs are preparing track designs for two of Network Rail’s four Track Renewals contractors. Asia Rail Engineering is also providing staff involved with the site management and audit procedures of contractors on London Underground. Future growth is planned in the area of track asset handback and monitoring following major works, skilled labour supply, further development of the UK design office and expansion of the survey department.

Partnerships

Asia Rail Engineering has been approached by a number of major contractors to supply technical support and project management services for multi-million dollar railway projects in South East Asia in Joint Venture or partnering style arrangements. ARE is in advanced stage of negotiations with several key players in Asia involving projects like KTM in Malaysia, Metro Rail in India, SMRT in Singapore and a Joint Venture with one of Asia’s largest Civil/Engineering company.
